$27.5 Million Jury Verdict is Michigan’s Largest

Jason Waechter, known as “The Motorcycle Lawyer,” is a prominent personal injury attorney specializing in motorcycle accident cases. His law firm, Law Firm of Jason A Waechter, secured the largest jury verdict for a motorcycle accident injury case in Michigan’s history. This record-setting verdict amounted to $27.5 million, achieved on May 3, 2024. The case involved a motorcyclist who was severely injured when a distracted driver, using her cell phone to check a blood glucose app, veered left of center and struck him. The injuries sustained by the motorcyclist included an above-the-knee amputation, a fractured elbow requiring surgery, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The verdict covered noneconomic damages such as pain and suffering and disfigurement, not including medical bills, which are to be paid by the at-fault party’s insurance for life.
